A major factor in Great Guana Cay’s future is Baker's Bay Golf & Ocean Club. This 585-acre (2.37 km2) project is a major resort development that will include 385 homes. Developed by Discovery Land Company (DLC), the project will include an 18 hole golf course designed by world-famous Tom Fazio, a 180-slip marina, Marina Village resort area, and a private club in the Abacos with beach club and spa. Ocean-front lots in Baker’s Bay range from $1 million to $18 million, for the land alone, with most vacant home lots around $4 million. More than $500 million is being spent to develop infrastructure, amenities, and rental units. Baker’s Bay will attract the super-wealthy to the Bahamas and should greatly increase the value of real estate over the long run. Even at these prices, Baker’s Bay has sold over $40 million of land already, mainly to existing owners of DLC’s other projects around the world. That is, most Baker’s Bay owners are buying their 3rd, 4th, or 5th multi-million dollar home at Baker’s Bay.
